At the 20th General Assembly of the Intra-European Organization of Tax Administrations (IOTA), which was held in Bucharest, Romania, The Head of SFS of Ukraine Roman Nasirov was elected the President of IOTA.
“Next year 21st session of the General Assembly of IOTA will be held in Ukraine. For us it is a great and significant event because Ukraine will head IOTA for the first time. We are grateful for this opportunity, for recognition of our experience and professionalism, but we are fully aware that this is also a great responsibility”, - said Roman Nasirov in his speech at the General Assembly.
He stressed that Ukraine made a choice in favor of the European Union, European values and freedoms, which is why the recognition and trust of European colleagues are extremely important for the Ukrainian state.
“We understand the importance of expanding international contacts in the tax area to improve national fiscal services. Ukraine is ready to intensify cooperation in this sphere and to improve their own tax system using the experience of other countries. On other side, we are looking forward not only to get that precious experience of other tax administrations, but also to deliver our experience and knowledge that we managed to apply in the process of Ukrainian tax system improvement”, - said The Head of SFS of Ukraine.
Speaking about the priority objectives of the Organization for the next year, Roman Nasirov emphasized three core areas of tax administration work: improving taxpayer compliance and tax collection; developing taxpayer services and reducing administrative burdens; and reducing the tax administration cost base.
"We see our task in coordinating IOTA members, in further ensuring the effective cooperation between tax administrations in the European region and supporting their development. Our main goal - to extend the course to strengthen cooperation between European countries in the tax area and promote interagency cooperation ", - said Roman Nasirov.
