Ukraine highly appreciates the support of the European Parliament and is grateful for the adoption on June 14, 2018 of resolutions on Russia's massive violations of human rights and politically motivated persecution against Ukrainian citizens.
A clear demand from European Parliamentarians to the Kremlin regime to release all illegally imprisoned on fabricated affairs of Ukrainian citizens on the territory of Russia and temporarily occupied Crimea is an important step that exacerbates international pressure on Russia.
Symbolically, the decision of the European Parliament was adopted on the day of the beginning of the World Cup, by which the Kremlin cynically tries to divert the attention of the international community from its outrageous crimes and systemic human rights violations.
With its clear position, the European Parliament expressed solidarity with Oleg Sentsov, a citizen of Ukraine illegally detained in a Russian prison, and demands from the Russian authorities his immediate and unconditional release.
Ukraine welcomes the appeal of the European Parliament to the EU member states to maintain a consolidated position on strengthening the sanctions pressure on Russia and to consider targeted restrictive measures against those involved in politically motivated persecution.
One more time we demand from the Kremlin regime to stop the violation of human rights in the temporarily occupied Crimea and immediately release all those Ukrainian citizens who are illegally detained on political grounds.
