Ukraine's Minister of Defence, Denys Shmyhal, met in Kyiv with Romania's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, Liviu-Ionuț Moșteanu.

The Minister of Defence of Ukraine thanked the Government and people of Romania, as well as Mr. Moșteanu personally, for effective cooperation and strong support. Denys Shmyhal emphasized that Romania provides Ukraine with support in several key areas. 

Romania has already delivered 22 military assistance packages to Ukraine, and Ukrainian warriors will soon receive the 23rd. 

“Romania continues training Ukrainian F-16 pilots and is making other substantial contributions to strengthening our air defense shield. We have agreed to reinforce coordination between our air forces,” said Denys Shmyhal.

The delegations also concentrated on advancing industrial cooperation. A priority is the production of interceptor drones, FPV drones, and long-range unmanned aerial systems.

“We discussed the possibility of using the SAFE mechanism to launch joint projects on technology exchange and establish Ukrainian production in Romania. Another key issue is Romania’s involvement in the PURL initiative, which delivers U.S.-made weapons to Ukrainian warriors,” added the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.

Furthermore, during the meeting, intelligence representatives provided the partners with detailed information on the security situation and russia’s plans. Both sides analyzed the challenges posed by russian aggression to Ukraine and Romania.
